TGIF! This is a public service announcement for people in my area, Bucks County, PA. Tomorrow one of our local high schools is sponsoring a Hazardous Material Waste Disposal site free of charge to our community. So, if you have hazmats sitting in your basement or garage, now is the time to dispose of it safely!
This weekend my husband and I decided to thoroughly clean out our garage. One thing I have a LOT of is old paint so when I saw the advertisement about getting rid of hazardous material, I was all in! I gathered up all of my old paint which is mostly latex paint. Then I read the fine print and since latex is water based it is not considered hazardous. Shoot! I only have a few containers of oil based paint, which they will take. They will also take old pesticides, propane tanks and any other toxic chemicals. You can read on the label which ones are considered toxic.
The Haz-Mat drop off site in our area is tomorrow, Saturday July 22 from 9:00-3:00 located at
Central Bucks South High School
1100 Folly Road
Warrington, PA
Below is a complete list of what they will and will not take:
If you are like us, we tend to collect half empty cans and jars of bug spray, paint, etc. thinking we will use them. Then they sit there collecting dust. This weekend we will take advantage of the disposal service and clean out the things we can’t safely recycle or dispose of ourselves. I have a few practically full gallons of paint which I’ll list on our community’s free page and see if I have any takers. The mostly empty latex paint cans will be tossed. My husband will be SO excited to finally clean out the garage! And we will get the hazardous chemicals out of our house.
If you happen to live in my area, please take advantage of this free service and do our environment a favor in the process! Remember to reuse, recycle and repurpose when you can!
I hope you have a lovely weekend! Stay cool! Thank you for stopping by. xoxo Dell (p.s. I love hearing from you!)
