Happy Tuesday, friends! I’ve been a little MIA lately, but not due to lack of keeping busy. Too much so in fact! I finished painting the second guest room and with not a moment to spare! We have two guests coming in a week and a half, so I thought I’d share with you a few of my guest room essentials!
Everyone wants their out-of-town guests to feel comfortable and welcome when they visit. They say the best thing you can do is sleep in your own guest room to see how the bed sleeps and how comfortable the room really is. So, in preparation for our guests, here is a list of my top guest room essentials!
1-A nice bed! Make sure the mattress is comfortable and the bedding is clean and fresh. My secret weapon is a line of products by Downy. They have several coordinating lines of laundry detergent, fabric softeners, dryer sheets and scent boosters. My favorite is called Lavender Serenity. So, right before company comes, I like to wash the sheets and towels in the lavender collection and it makes the them smell divine! I’m particularly a fan of the in-wash scent booster! (shown below by the Butler.) My husband even noticed when I started using this!
Also, make sure you have plenty of pillows and blankets and make it a point to let guests know there are extras in the closet.
2-Side tables beside the bed! I don’t know about you, but I always like to have a bedside table. It’s a place to park my watch and phone, as well as a bottle of water, which I never go to bed without! In the main guest room, I was able to squeeze two night stands on each side of the king-size bed. They are small, but they serve the purpose! Having a bed side lamp is also nice, in case they wish to read in bed.
3-Drinks and snacks! Outside of our guest room is a little kitchenette so I have an extra coffee maker and all of the coffee-making accoutrements handy so guests don’t feel they need to go upstairs if they are early risers. There is a mini-fridge underneath the bar where we keep extra bottled water, beer and wine. On top of the bar I put packs of crackers, nuts and fruit as snacks. If you don’t have a bar or kitchenette, no worries! Just put a little tray filled with drinks and a few snacks on a side table or dresser, and your guests will love your thoughtfulness!
4-Extra soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, razors, etc! It never fails when I’m traveling I forget one or two of these things, so it’s nice to have them on hand and not need to ask the host. Air fresheners and candles are also nice in the guest bathroom. And make sure there is plenty of toilet paper!
5-Your Wi-Fi password! You can leave a little note on a side table with the password or if you want to get fancy, you can put it in a frame! Here I have a little “hello” sign in different languages, but it would be equally as cute with the wi-fi password!
6-Fresh flowers! Let your company know how glad you are to have them! Even a small vase of flowers and greenery lets them know you’ve been thinking about them and planning for their arrival. If you don’t have any in your yard, the grocery store always has a pretty selection.
All of this being said, I need to get busy myself! The guests we have coming are friends of my husbands, but I’m sure they will still appreciate all of my little touches to their rooms. Especially the lovely smelling sheets and towels! What do you do to prepare for company? Please share! Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful day! xoxo Dell
