Happy Thursday! Today’s blog post is part throw back Thursday and part new Thursday! Earlier this year I shared with you some tips on ordering greenery from Costco for my parent’s 60th anniversary party. Well, my sister-in-law utilized this again last month for her daughter’s gorgeous wedding! Come see how amazing the flowers looked!!
When my son got married last November, the entire wedding was so beautiful and the flowers were no exception! And anyone who has ordered flowers lately knows how incredibly expensive they can be. And for an entire wedding? It can cost a fortune! But it doesn’t need to if you are a smart shopper like my sister-in-law. This woman is a deal finding wonder. (I am very jealous of her mad skills.)
In January my SIL, aka Shana, kindly volunteered to host our parent’s 60th wedding anniversary party at her (and my brother’s) house. They pulled out all of the stops and decorated the house and tables to the 9’s! She ordered bulk roses and greenery garland from Costco. I didn’t know Costco even offered this service. And, they deliver it right to your door! This is her beautiful dining room. The table was set with a crisp, white table cloth, gold charger plates and her best china. She added a long piece of the live greenery garland and tucked in dozens of white roses. Candles completed the look and added the perfect glow. Let’s just take a moment to admire that chandelier….
And a close up of the garland, roses and table ware.
This is the “kids” table located in the kitchen. Again, she used the greenery and roses. Everything was so elegant and beautiful. And my parents loved every minute! Sixty years of marriage is a big deal! Congratulations, Mother and Daddy!
This is a close up of the mixed garland. It is very well put together using wire and string. One strand of the garland measures a generous 25 feet of assorted greens for $79.99. They also offer a set of four, six foot runners for $89.99. I don’t know about you, but to me this is one heck of a deal!
So, for her daughter’s wedding, Shana ordered 2 of the 25 foot garlands of greenery and dozens of white roses and baby’s breath. I helped decorate the day of the wedding and we used every inch of garland and every last rose! Below are a few places we used the garland.
We draped the entire length of the Sweetheart Table from ground to end, with a long stretch of garland. (See that chandelier hanging in the background? It’s mine. And I have big plans for that baby soon!)
Here’s a close up of the Sweetheart Table. To the greenery, we added strands of white pearls, fresh roses, candles and a gold Mr & Mrs. sign.
Inside the barn, where dinner was served, was a large wagon wheel light fixture. We added some greenery to the wheel to glam it up a bit. The greenery has an obvious “top” side so we flipped the greenery over so the pretty part hung down below. We attached the greenery to the light fixture using a few pieces of floral wire, then pulled down strands of the greenery so it draped down for a more natural look.
The beverage table was made from two vintage whiskey barrels topped by an old door. We added more greenery, white roses and baby’s breath. Because the glass containers sit on tall metal bases, we put the drink containers right on top of the greenery.
We had one long strand of greenery left and the florist snagged it. She and her assistant wrapped it around the arbor and doors and added more of the white roses. It added the perfect touch to the wooden doors!
Isn’t it pretty? Later I’ll share more details (with my niece’s permission) of this fairy tale wedding and the location.
The doors created the perfect backdrop for the grand entrance of the glowing bride and her proud Daddy. I know she is my niece, but she was stunning. Here is Faith Elizabeth and my handsome brother.
I highly recommend this fresh garland. Not only is it affordable, but lush and beautiful. And the roses were also fresh and pretty! Make sure you check the Costco.com website for ordering instructions and details on how far in advance to order and expect delivery, etc. They also recommend you mist the garland once it arrives to keep it fresh. This is one simple way to add beauty and elegance to an event without breaking the bank. Weddings are expensive enough so save where you can-without sacrificing style!
Thank you as always for stopping by my little blog. I hope you have a lovely evening! xoxo Dell
