Happy Tuesday, friends! I’ve been super busy the past few weeks. Between redoing the flooring in our basement and painting the exterior of the lake house, things have been topsy turvy. The paint job is now complete at the lake house. Want to pop over and see the gray house with white trim?
“Gray house with white trim.” Do you like how I’m utilizing my SEO titles? I know someone that does! LOL! It’s hard to believe that earlier this year the covered deck project at our lake house had just begun!
About a week later, we were under roof! (These guys were FAST!)
The covered deck literally doubled our outdoor living space! Our lake house is not that big, so this new space is wonderful! Now we use it rain or shine! We love the look of the new deck, but we wanted it to look like it was part of the original house, so we decided to have it painted. It’s been about 8 years since we last had the exterior of the house painted, so we decided this was the perfect opportunity to paint the rest of the house at the same time. We still love the look of the gray and white combo so we stuck with it.
It took a few weeks due to the weather, but now it’s all freshly painted! This is the view from the lake. This year we plan to host at least one of our Thanksgiving dinners here. My side of the family is quite large, with about 31 people, so it’s nice to be able to spread out. Fingers crossed for good weather!
We still plan to add gravel underneath the deck to cover the red mud and to neaten up the area. I’d also like to add some greenery and shrubs around the base of the fireplace. Maybe more pink azaleas? They are my favorite!
The underside/inside of the deck got a fresh coat of paint as well. As cool as the raw wood looked, the builder used particle board between the beams and it wasn’t that attractive. Plus, the wood was not treated so sealing it was a must. We ended up going with a white wood stain, which our painter said would last longer and not peel like regular latex paint. Last week we enjoyed a few days at the lake. I must admit I’m loving this cooler weather. Perfect for an outdoor fire!
So now you know what I’ve been up to the past few weeks, which is why I’ve been so absent here on my blog. Later this week my favorite electrician is coming to install a pretty little something~something in one of the guest rooms in the basement. Stay tuned! Have a great day! xoxo Dell
