Happy Friday, Friends! I am so excited about our bathroom progress! The glass shower enclosure was installed yesterday and we couldn’t be happier! Well, we could if we could use it….
We began our master bathroom renovation back in February. What started as simply replacing the shower tile and glass morphed into a full blown remodeling project. The good thing about this long drawn out process is we were able to take our time picking out materials and paying for them over time. This really helped budget-wise. Plus, we did all of the demolition work ourselves. This was mid-demolition:
The plumber was scheduled to come on Wednesday and install the tub, shower head and all of the hardware and faucets. We have a beautiful claw foot tub with shiny polished chrome fixtures and a Victorian style shower head. We can’t wait to see it all in place! Alas, due to a mix-up, they had to reschedule. Now it won’t happen until after Thanksgiving! We are disappointed but at this point what’s a few more weeks? This will give us time to finish the picture frame moulding and painting. We still need to address the cabinetry & counter top. This is how the bathroom looked on Wednesday:
Do it yourself projects are rewarding and frustrating! In the end we will save a ton of money and have the look we want for much less. We actually had a contractor quote us $16,000 to finish the bathroom and that was after the demolition was done! So, we put on our thinking caps and tool belts and got to work. Here are the new shower doors & walls!
I’m a little bit in love with the door handle. Did you know you can replace these? There is a tiny screw on the bottom of the handle. I wish I’d known this earlier.
My advise to anyone willing to tackle such a large project is take your time if you can. Not only will you feel great about your accomplishment, but you will save a ton of money in the process. In a few weeks, we will do the big reveal! Trust me, we can not wait!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! (Lacey says hi!)
