The antique of the week is my husband’s 1966 Ford pick up truck! He has been looking for one for years and finally found one!
My husband learned how to drive on a 1966 Ford pick up. His family owned one. They took their trash to the dump in that type of truck. It has been a dream of my husband’s to own one of these classics ever since.
For the last few years he looked online and at antique car shows looking for just the right one. He finally found one on Auto Trader. Unfortunately, it was in Arizona! After a lot of research and speaking with the owner they made a deal. It had been meticulously maintained and taken care of. They shipped it to NC and my father in law picked it up for us.
We keep the truck at the lake house and we use it to take the trash to the dump. Life comes full circle, right? My husband is almost the only one that can drive it. It has manual steering and brakes and is very tough to drive and it doesn’t go very fast or stop quickly. No sudden movements in that thing! He loves to drive it around town. No matter where we go, people stop and chat and reminisce about a similar truck they or their family owned. My husband LOVES it. Outings take twice as long but it’s okay. Funny what brings folks together! I think it’s wonderful that some people had the foresight to restore and keep these past treasures. The truck fits in perfectly at the lake house. Perfectly imperfect!
