TGIF, sweet friends! Do you have any fun plans for the long 3-day weekend? Since it’s Labor Day, my husband and I are planning to labor at the lake house. And by that I mean painting. Lots of painting. But maybe we can squeeze a boat ride in there somewhere! But first, I want to share with you my flower arrangement for under $20!
Anyone who loves flowers probably knows about Trader Joe’s. When we lived in Pennsylvania we had one about 40 minutes from our house. It was a bit of a trek, but well worth it. As it came time to put our house on the market to sell, I made a special trip to TJ’s so I could fill the house with flowers so it would look extra pretty for the open house. And it wouldn’t break the bank! So now that we’ve moved to North Carolina, I was eager to find a local store. Much to my delight, I found one just 30 miles from our house!
One of my favorite bits of greenery is seeded eucalyptus. The leaves are such a pretty shape and I love how they drape elegantly over the side of a vase. I’ve only found them once at our local grocery store therefore I think they must be in high demand. I”m always able to find them at Trader Joe’s though. So, yesterday I made the trip to Charlotte and found exactly what I was looking for!
Pink is my favorite color and I love how it looks in our otherwise neutral home. So, I found a dozen pink roses for $6.99. Yes, $6.99! The color is absolutely stunning! The flowers are a soft pink and turn a darker pink around the edges of the petals. I snagged the last dozen of this color and then found my seeded eucalyptus. Each bundle of eucalyptus was $2.99. I bought 3. When I got home I pulled the roses out of their plastic wrap and dragged them around the house taking some pretty pictures for my Instagram page. Here they are in the “Mr. Chair”.
Then the roses made a cameo appearance on my chaise lounge in our master bathroom.
I drug them around other parts of the house too, and by this point the roses were probably getting thirsty. I finally decided to put them in some water and make a quick flower arrangement. It was the easiest thing ever! I filled the vase with water and added the fresh flower food packet that usually comes with the flowers. I trimmed off the bottom of each rose stem by about ½ inch at an angle and put them in the center of my tall vase. Then I trimmed the seeded eucalyptus at the bottom as well and arranged them all around the outer edge of the vase. I used 3 packages of the eucalyptus so it was nice and full. And there you have it!
I was SO pleased with my flower arrangement, I drug it all over the house to take pictures too! Here they are at my desk…
And in my bedroom……
Beside my bed…..
In the entry way…..
In the powder room….
And finally in the dining room, where they landed.
As you can see from the photos, this arrangement looks beautiful everywhere in the house! And the good news is I dusted and polished all of the furniture while I was at it. (That made me feel productive.) The roses have opened up even more today and are so beautiful! I love the simplicity of the arrangement and it’s not bad for under twenty bucks! Trader Joe’s has roses of all colors as well as mixed bunches so the sky is the limit for flower arrangements. Oh, they have food too!
Well, I hope you have a wonderful and safe Labor Day weekend! And let’s keep all of Florida in our thoughts and prayers as the Hurricane Dorian is at their door step. Thank you for stopping by! Let’s chat next week, shall we? xoxo Dell
