I hope all of the Dads out there had a wonderful Father’s Day yesterday and a great weekend! We had a fun filled weekend with absolutely gorgeous weather and lots of yummy food and the kids!
We got a new electric smoker on Friday and my husband was itching to try it out! He put it together and had to prime it for 3 hours prior to cooking. It’s by Masterbuilt. It has several shelves, a water pan and a place on the side for adding smoking chips.
We’ve tried to use a charcoal smoker in the past, but found it’s hard to regulate the temperature so this will be much simpler. Set it and just check on it periodically and add flavored chips. So we sat by the pool and he cooked some amazing ribs, pulled pork and corn on the cob. I made some pasta salad and cole slaw. It was every bit as yummy as it looks! (Photo credit, my son Chase)
On Father’s Day we cooked a big breakfast with sausage, eggs, toast, fruit and monkey bread. I found that using a shaker container we use for our chicken wings and dry rub works great for coating the biscuit pieces with sugar and cinnamon. We ordered the shaker on Amazon but the one we have at the lake is from Bass Pro Shops. Great for breading fish too! The monkey bread was a hit as usual!
After breakfast we celebrated Father’s Day. The boys found a cool vintage mint green milkshake maker on eBay. Their Dad LOVES ice cream and his Grandmother owned a similar one that he’s been talking about for years. It was perfect! Of course he had to try it out and he made us all chocolate milk shakes after lunch.
They also bought him a nice bottle of wine and a very cool golf club shaped cantilever wine bottle holder. It looks like a magic trick!
Lots of delicious food, enjoying family and celebrating Father’s Day. What a lovely weekend and a perfect start to summer! Happy Father’s Day, everyone!
