I think that means dumpster in French. It has a nice ring to it anyway. After a month of having an enormous dumpster and porta-potty in our driveway, the time has come for them to grace someone else’s home. Hooray!!!!
The stucco remediation project is coming to a close. The excessive rain has slowed the progress down quite a bit but these guys are fast! Today they will finish up the last of the Hardie Plank installation and finish caulking, hanging shutters and putting up the new gutters.
I have to say that I LOVE the new siding! It looks so fresh and clean. I am really pleased with the color we chose. It is about the same color as the grout in between the bricks on the front of the house. We used a neutral color plank, white trim and kept our black shutters. I painted the light fixtures with a fresh coat of Rust-o-leum black paint. They look as good as new. I need to give the outside doors a coat of fresh black paint too. That will happen as soon as the weather cooperates! The garage doors could use a little attention, too.
After this messy and loud project comes to a close, we can focus on the landscaping. The shrubs and grass took quite a beating between the rain and the workers. I planted my big urn yesterday. (you can read about it on the blog) I bought a few new boxwoods to replace the sad looking ones near the Veranda. Some of the daylillies got trampled down so I will move them to a different location so they can recover. They will be fine next year, but this year I don’t want to see them struggle and look puny against the ones that faired better.
The patio, driveway and veranda will all need a good pressure washing. Then we can turn our attention to sprucing up those spaces and perking up the yard. I love working outside so this will be fun for me. Guaranteed to keep me busy for at least a few weeks! Happy Spring!
P.S. Since this is under the tips heading, I guess my tip would be not to buy a stucco home like we did. 🙁
