Welcome to Throw Back Thursday! With my son’s wedding a mere 3 months away, we are all in high planning mode. One thing I made a few months ago was a few little packets for the young flower girls, i.e. dollar store finds for young wedding guests.
My two great-nieces are going to be the flower girls at my son’s wedding. By the time the wedding rolls around they will be 6 and 8 years old. If you ask me, it’s the perfect ages for flower girls. They are still young enough to be adorable yet old enough to know how to behave at a wedding. But still, a wedding and reception are long. Then you throw in the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and it’s really long. So I wanted to put together a little fun activity kit for the two of them to help keep them entertained when they are not performing their petal duties. Here are the darling flower girls:
My nieces are first cousins and best friends so I knew both of the activity packets had to be identical. I found the perfect solution at the dollar store! All of the stickers, coloring books and crayons were a dollar each. I found these cute little clip boards at Staples for $2 each. (They had the plain brown ones for $1 but I thought these were cuter.)
And of course there must be princesses….
And anything Frozen. Let it go?
I clipped all of the activity books, coloring books and stickers to the clipboard and wrapped each in a zip lock bag to help corral everything together. Then I wrapped a pretty leopard print bow around them. When it gets closer to the wedding I’ll probably add a little bit of candy to the bags. (I can because I”m the Aunt.)
Cute, right? I think the girls will love them. Maybe it will help keep them entertained on the ride home too?
As far as I know the flower girls will be the youngest children at the wedding. Other than my fairy god-daughter who is 10. I’m thinking I’ll do a little more grown up version for her and maybe all of the girls can sit together at the reception. I can’t wait to see how the girls look in their flower girl dresses! My youngest niece, who is turning 6 soon, declared it had been a life long dream to be a flower girl. How cute is that?
Our families are getting so excited about the wedding! Three months from today we will be at the rehearsal! This coming weekend is the bridal shower my sisters are throwing for the bride to be. I’m so excited to share the details soon! Lots of activity around here!
I hope you have a fabulous day! Thank you for stopping by! xoxo Dell
