Happy Monday, friends! I want to share with you a fun little project I did on Friday while my husband was out golfing. Come check out my curtain tie-backs as purse hangers!
For Christmas my sweet husband bought me a new Coach purse. So, I transferred my wallet and other things in my purse from the old one to the new. It got me thinking how pretty my old purses are and that I should display them somehow in my closet! (I actually borrowed the idea from my daughter-in-law, who displayed her purses in her new closet using hooks. Thank you for the inspiration, my dear!)) And I had the perfect thing to hang them on. These vintage curtain tie-backs! Aren’t they pretty?
So this is the spot in my closet where I wanted to display my purses.
Honestly I can’t remember why I bought these tie backs, other than I thought they were cool and might make fun towel hangers. But that never happened and now I’m glad! So, while my husband was out golfing (and making his first hole-in-one), I hauled out the ladder, drill and a few other tools.
I measured the width of the entire wall, corner to corner, and divided that by 5. This would place the hooks 15 ½ inches apart and 3 inches down from the ceiling. Here’s how they look!
Finally I arranged my purses on the hooks. I LOVE it! Now when I walk by the closet, I can admire my colorful old purses! Of course I really, really need to clean out my closet, but not today. TIP: The purses are empty and not very heavy so I just used regular sheet rock screws to secure the tie-backs to the wall. If you plan on hanging something heavier, be sure to use wall anchors.
This wall in my closet went from empty and not very practical, to something useful and pretty! And I was able to use the vintage tie-backs from my treasure room. What do you think?
Well, we are keeping our sweet grandson for a few days this week and I’d better get busy while he’s napping! I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by! Let’s chat again soon! Much love, Dell
