Happy New Year’s Eve sweet friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Our family sure did! I’ve taken some time off to be with family and friends and soaked in every moment! But, before the end of the new year comes and goes, I wanted to share with you a fun activity our family did at Christmas this year. A Christmas puzzle!
Earlier in December when I was out shopping at Hobby Lobby, I came across a bunch of Christmas puzzles on sale for half off. On a whim I bought one for our family. Our younger son and his girlfriend were coming in the Wednesday before Christmas and our older son and his family were coming in the following day. I thought it might be a fun activity for us to do together in between meals and other activities.
The puzzle I bought was 1000 pieces and by a company called Brother and Sister Jigsaw Puzzles. (By Cafe Press.) The pieces are oversized, which is nice when working with such a large puzzle. (And easier for us older folks to see too.) Like I said, the puzzle came from Hobby Lobby but you can also find these puzzles on eBay and Amazon.
On the Wednesday before Christmas we got out the puzzle and starting working on it on the dining room table. Even a family friend got in on the action!
We all worked on the puzzle whenever we had some free time and at night after our little grandson went to bed. We listened to Christmas music, talked, laughed and drank some good wine.
We finished the puzzle on Christmas Day! And we all had such a good time with the puzzle that we agreed it should become a new tradition! So, I’ve already ordered one for next year!
The only down side to assembling the puzzle on our dining room table is that it left little room to eat meals or set a pretty table for Christmas. So, I”ve been looking into that too! There are puzzle mats and puzzle tables you can buy so I think that will be a better solution next year. (If you are lucky enough to have a separate craft or game table in your house, that would be idea. )
After your puzzle is completed you can glue your puzzle together and frame it if you like, or disassemble it and pass it along to a friend or family member to also enjoy! Just be sure all of the pieces are included! Haha!
Well, I’ve been meaning to share with you some highlights from our Christmas and some of our decorations. But that will probably need to wait until the New Year because we have plans this weekend. Meanwhile, I hope you all have a wonderful and safe New Year! Thank you all for being here with me and supporting my little blog! I love you!
And until we meet again, may the good Lord take a liking to you! xoxo Dell (And Roy Rogers.)
