Hi! TGIF! I have had a few technical difficulties this week, so please forgive me. But I have been busy making a few fun changes at our lake house. A new table, some new light fixtures. Come check it out!
So, the electrician is coming on Saturday. He is switching out several lights in the house. I have a feeling it will make a huge difference in the look and feel of the house! I’ve also been busy switching out some accessories. Isn’t it funny how making a few minor changes makes all the difference?
Starting with the main bathroom. I switched out the white mirror with an oval gold leaf mirror from my Treasure Room. The gold matches the gold frames in the artwork in the bathroom. I have a feeling the ceiling light will be switched out with something gold as well. This is how the bathroom looked before:
And now with the gold mirror:
I realized after I took the picture the mirror was a tad too low so I raised it up about 3 inches. I like the contrast of the gold mirror with the white sconces.
The old vanity knobs were mercury glass and so pretty but they had sharp edges which catch clothes and I cut my finger on one of them several times. They had to go.
I found these new knobs at Homegoods for $7.99 for a pack of 6. They are pretty and smooth!
I also switched out the shower curtain in the master bath. The old one is pretty but too dark. So, I swiped this white one from home and brought it down here. This “B” one came from Ballard Designs years ago. I still love it. So really I’m just doing a switcheroo. The white really brightens up the bathroom.
A few days ago I bought a new table for the kitchen. The old rectangular table is fine but SO big for this tiny kitchen.
I’ve been looking for months for a large round table to replace it and I finally found one at a consignment store for a great price. I called my sweet baby sister and she met me at the store with her new truck. I also bought two rocking chairs. (You can never have too many rocking chairs at the lake.) There is a little plaque on the back of each rocker that says “Cracker Barrel”. So just to be clear, I did NOT steal these but bought them at a consignment store. I think I will paint them white at some point.
The base of the table is a shiny black and feels too dark and heavy. So now I’m painting the base of the table white. I’ve done two coats already and it’s still not finished! The round table will fit the space much nicer I think. We will use the same chairs for now and store the table for future use. I’ll need to call my sister back over here for an extra set of hands to make the table switch. (I love you Steph!)
Such pretty detail on the base. I am liking the white paint!
This is the table top. It has a bad scratch but I think I can repair it. I may need to get a piece of glass for the top.
And this tormented Lacey for about half an hour yesterday. We call him Big Bird and Lacey hates him. He finally flew away.
I also have some paint and some new art work, but there are only so many hours in the day! I’ll share my updates as I finish. Meanwhile, thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xoxo Dell
