Today I am working on a cane makeover for my niece. I found it at the antique store for just a few dollars. Her favorite color (and mine) is pink so I knew this would be the base color.
I bought a can of Rust-oleum soft pink spray paint at the hardware store and also found this sweet Hello Kitty duck tape.
Then, I gave the cane a quick clean and sanded it a bit. I painted two coats for good coverage sanding the drips in between coats. My original plan was to wrap the duct tape around in a candy cane design with some of the pink paint peaking through. But, it was trickier than it looked and when I tried to readjust the tape, it peeled off the paint. So I wrapped it around and around and left the handle exposed with the pretty pink paint. It turned out great. I hope my darling niece likes it and I’m pretty sure it will be one of a kind. I named it “I think I can(e)” for encouragement.
