Happy Friday, friends! We just finished adding new storm doors to our lake house and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! Come see the best storm doors ever!
We (meaning my husband, Brad) just finished installing new storm doors to the front and back doors of our lake house. After a bit of research and shopping, my husband found these storm doors by Larson. They are available at Lowe’s for around $300 each. The doors are made of glass with a retractable screen at the top half of the door, so you can choose to have ventilation or not with the click of a lever.
This was the original storm door which leads from the deck to the kitchen on the side of the lake house. There was no screen in the door anymore and the door had started to stick and not close properly. A perfect candidate for a new storm door! Hello, Screen-Away by Larson!
Once the old storm door was removed, it took Brad several hours to install the new door and handle. Here is how the new door looks!
This is the view from the kitchen looking out onto the deck. We still need to paint the inside of the door jam where the old door was green on the inside. Always a project!
There is not a huge difference in the look of the new door at a glance, but the screen option in the new one will be a game changer! By the way, the solid wood door and the shutters are original to the house and are over 50 years old. We always strive to keep as much of the character and charm of the house as we can.
This is the front door of the lake house. The door is original and we love it, but there was no way to let in much needed fresh air without letting in the bugs too. We loved the look of the storm door on the side of the house and decided to add one to the front door as well.
The second door installation went much more quickly. This is how the front door looks with the new Larson storm door. The entry looks so much prettier! Now, when the weather is nice, we can open both of the door screens and get a wonderful cross-breeze throughout the house! The storm doors have a soft close feature and I love how the glass lets in so much light.
The storm doors really add a finishing touch, don’t you think?
And Lacey LOVES the new doors! She likes to lay on the mat bedside the door and guard her lake yard from those mean deer, geese and squirrels. Good girl!
Next week we are having the lake house and deck painted! We sent the colors to the painters and they will start on Monday, weather permitting. We are keeping the same colors since we still love the look of the grey siding and white trim. Our hope is the fresh paint will tie together the existing house with the new deck addition. I’ll keep you posted, so stop back by! Have a great weekend! xoxo Dell
