Happy Thursday, friends! I want to share with you a few fun pictures and party ideas for hosting a baby shower for a little girl! Last weekend my sisters, nieces and I threw a shower at our sister-in-law’s house to honor our eldest niece, who is expecting a girl this August. It’s her first baby so we wanted to make it extra special! Come see how it all came together!
As a Boy-Mom and grandmother to a boy, I admit I am partial to little boys. However, I wouldn’t say no to a granddaughter, either! We have two brand new babies in our family so far this year and this little girl will be the third. How blessed and excited we are, and we couldn’t wait to celebrate!
My niece and her Mom (My sister-in-law) created this fabulous balloon feature wall. They used a standing and adjustable curtain rod and draped it with black fabric. They blew up white, pink and gold balloons and tied them together and affixed them to the rod. Quite a dramatic spot to open gifts, right?
Since this was a couple’s shower, we placed his and her chairs in front of the balloon backdrop and designated “her” chair with a large pink bow made from leftover satin fabric we used on the party favor table. It was a last minute detail but added a little fun flair and pop of color. As my SIL said, it’s all in the little details!
We used a white bassinet as a decoration and to hold gifts. This bassinet is especially sentimental because it has cradled every baby in our family for the past 36 years. Most recently my precious grandson slept in it and now our newest addition will sleep in it for a few months, too. Then it will go back into storage until the next one!
I used vintage vases from my stash and had my favorite local florist fill them with a mix of dainty pink and white flowers. We scattered them here and there around the house on tables. And flowers are always a good idea, no matter the occasion!
This little lamb with flowers sat on the kitchen table with crystal-lined trays of delicious cupcakes and a picture of the glowing Mother-to-be!
The kitchen table held desserts, such as cupcakes, donut holes and chocolates.
My niece made regular and vegan cupcakes to suit the dietary needs of a few of the guests.
And a sparkly chandelier is also always a good idea in my book! My SIL used crisp white floor-length table cloths on the tables to add an elegant touch.
The kitchen island held drinks, cups, and a few party games. Because this shower was a brunch, the glass dispensers held lemon water (with pink floating ducks) and chilled orange juice. A separate coffee bar with biscotti was located directly behind the island for easy access.
The dining room was aglow with trays filled with sliders, quiche, mini muffins, and fruit and veggie trays.
And I must brag on my sweet niece, Faith Elizabeth for this adorable elephant watermelon fruit tray she made for the shower.
Isn’t it the cutest thing ever? She found her inspiration on Pinterest and put her unique spin on it.
The “tray” was actually an oval mirror they used to hold bite-size pieces of watermelon, strawberries, grapes and blueberries. The display reminds me of a baby elephant wrapped in a blanket!
On one end of the table we placed a large bottle of hand sanitizer and asked that guests use it before serving their plates.
In order to make the hand sanitizer more attractive and less obtrusive, we removed the large blue label, and added a pretty pink ribbon that says, “It’s a Girl”.
On the sideboard in the foyer we placed a pink satin runner with party favors and a few baby shower themed decorations.
We placed the party favors near the front door to remind guests to grab a little token of our appreciation for attending the shower. Faith Elizabeth made these adorable favors from miniature mason jars filled with Hershey’s Kisses and tied with a pink ribbon. She made stickers for the lids that said, “Thank you for celebrating with us”, and the names of the celebratory couple and the date. So sweet, right?
We deemed the shower a success! Our niece got lots of adorable outfits, and many necessary items such as a car seat, basinet, diapers and a stroller is on the way! Gift cards will fill in the blanks and I’m sure the mother-to-be will be getting LOTS of hand-me-downs from the other two babies in the family! It takes a village, right?
Well, I’ve got a few more chores to do before hitting the golf course. My game is still pretty sad, but at least I get to be outside with some wonderful ladies! And we tee off today at 5:00 so you know what that means! Have a great day, my friends and let’s chat soon! xoxo Dell
