Hi friends! I’ve been on a vacation with cherished friends and family so I’ve taken a much needed social media break as well! But today I want to share with you our most recent purchase. It’s a Babelio Metal Baby Gate! Come check it out!
If you follow along regularly you know we keep our precious grandson once a week while his nanny is in class. Up until now, we haven’t gotten a baby gate, because one, he wasn’t mobile for a long time, and two, he is never out of our sight. But now the time has come to invest in a safe baby gate. (Naturally a gate does not replace constant supervision, but at least will give us peace of mind if he does escape us for even a minute.)
I researched several different baby gates and found one that would fit our basement stairwell opening as well as one that had high safety ratings. So, we chose a baby gate by Babelio. It’s metal, very sturdy and easy to install. This model fits openings from 26-40 inches. (Ours was 39″) I chose black because it goes with everything but it also comes in white and gray finishes.
The gate was pretty simple to install but be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions. IMPORTANT NOTE: There are two zip-ties that keep the gate door closed and you should NOT cut those until AFTER you install the entire gate. The gate comes with two extension pieces and we needed those for the width of our stairwell. They simply snap onto each side of the gate. The gate requires no tools for installation although it does come with an allan wrench to help tighten the bolts to the wall. (My husband ended up using a wrench because it was easier than the wrench it came with.) We mounted our gate just above the shoe moulding at the bottom and on the walls at the top. The gate comes with little cups that go between the screws and the walls to protect the sheetrock. Also use a level to ensure a tight and straight fit.
This Babelio gate was $73.99 on Amazon and with Prime it was shipped for free. The gate is pressure mounted and we tested it and it feels very secure and sturdy. It features an auto-close function that swings back and latches after you open it. Also, it stands 30″ tall which is an ideal height for a toddler. And, it got 4.5 out of 5 stars on all of the reviews. (I always read the reviews!)
So, tomorrow when we keep our little pumpkin, I’m sure he will notice the new gate and try to inspect it. Speaking of pumpkins….
Now that we are keeping our grandson more often since his parents have both started traveling more for work, this gate will give us extra piece of mind when he’s staying at our house. I’ll let you know what he thinks about it tomorrow! Meanwhile, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day! xoxo Dell
