Our family loves good food and good wine. When we open a bottle of wine we always save the corks. Over the years we made several bulletin boards using vintage frames and corks. But my son took this one step further….
I gave my son a cool frame a few months ago thinking that he would use it for a picture or poster. But, he had a better idea! He painted the frame gold, and cut a piece of 1/8 inch wood to attach to the back. After painting the back black, he gathered a lot of his corks and began to cut them in half. The idea here was to use the half that had been exposed to the red wine to fill out the middle of the ‘glass’ (to symbolize that the glass is full of course) , and then use the other (non-stained) side as the outline of the glass itself.
I like how this turned out, so I wanted to share this project with everyone. Our family has made a lot of really cool cork projects over the years, and there are likely many more to come! Stay tuned for more Cork Art!
