TFIG! Hasn’t this been the weirdest week? With the holiday on Tuesday this year, I’ve been a day off all week! But today I was finally able to slip away and do a little shopping! I hit up a few thrift stores and antique stores. See what I found!
Today I went to a few of my favorite antique stores. At the first store I found a darling little statue of a dachshund that reminds me of my son’s little dapple named Delilah. Actually I think the figurine weighs more than Little D. Cute, huh? I sent a picture of it to my son and he loved it! I toyed with painting it my favorite color gold, but he actually liked it in its original state. Me too. Even with it’s slight imperfections. The pink painted flowers and blue eyes are precious.
This is the real Delilah. Such a cutie!
I also found this darling little tool bucket. Obviously it is NOT an antique but sweet none the less. It was actually the hammer that won me over. I couldn’t resist getting it for my great nephew who is turning one soon. I cleaned the bucket and the “tools” so they will be nice and clean for Baby B.
I also found this pretty pinkish-tan telephone. I love the ornate silver handle. I’m assuming it works since it rings when you bump it against something. Don’t you miss holding an actual phone rather than a cell phone? I sure do.
Next I went to the thrift store and found some great deals. I bought a bunch of clear glass plates. I thought we could use them at the bridal shower. For $1 each it was a great find! I’ll keep an eye out for more of the same and we can always use them at other parties too! They are made of thick glass and are a fun shape. And they are the perfect size for party food! (I found 27 so if you find any like them or know who makes them, please let me know!)
I also scored some white glass bowls for the lake house. We are always needing large bowls for fruits and vegetables and these will be perfect. It was $6 for three of them. And since they are white, they go with everything! I’ll stick them in the dishwasher and they will be as good as new.
Same thing with this set of pasta dishes. There are four small bowls and one large serving bowl. I thought my son could use them at his apartment. And they are microwave and dishwasher safe, according to the back of the bowls. And I love the wording and pictures. Not bad for $6.
I bought this silver plated coffee container for $3. The can says “COFFEE Selection of Best Arabica Beans.” (Whatever that means.) The can looks as though it was never used and says it was made in India. It sort of reminds me of the old school Nestle Quik cans because of the way you pry off the lid. I think I will actually use it for storing our coffee!
So I call today’s shopping spree a success! It was fun to do a little retail therapy and pick up a few goodies. And it feels guilt free when I find such great bargains! Next week will be crazy for me. I’m helping my son move to a new apartment in a new city!! (Prayers appreciated.) I wish you a wonderful weekend! Thank you for stopping by. xoxo Dell
