Greetings and welcome to Throw Back Thursday! Yesterday I went shopping with my BFF for a belated birthday outing. Of course I’m always on the lookout for petite chandeliers to add to my collection. Today I thought I’d share a few of my favorites and a new addition!
Any time I go shopping with my BFF we always say we’ll grab some lunch but that really means shopping. And maybe swing through a drive through for a quick bite. Usually we don’t have time to eat. So, yesterday we made a date for a little belated birthday celebration. (My birthday was Monday, along with the Eclipse.) We only had a few hours so we had to make our time count! So, we hit our favorite haunts.
Typically I buy crystal chandeliers, but this little jewel caught my eye the moment we walked into the antique store. It was covered in cobwebs and even had a dead moth stuck to the spiderwebs. I didn’t care! It was calling my name.
I’m not sure how old the light fixture is, but I love the combination of the rusty/verdigris finish and the leaves and flowers. It has 3 lights and they all work. The lady at the store plugged it in for me plus I tried it when I got home. I will have it rewired since it still looks a little iffy. Such a pretty shape, right?
As usual I don’t know exactly where it will go, but it was one of those things that I knew if I didn’t buy it, I would kick myself later. Maybe I’ll put it on a plug for now. In our next house I would love to have a chandelier room. Not unlike this:
Here are a few of my little petite chandeliers I’ve collected over the years. This cutie lives in the hall bathroom at the lake. I seriously love the shape of this one. Gold and crystals? The perfect combination in my book.
I bought this one on eBay. It’s a beauty and it was a great deal. And this is why it was a great deal. Unfortunately this is exactly how it still looks. (below) Only it’s in the basement.
My BFF actually gave me this little chandelier about the time we met 20 years ago. She bought a box full of chandelier parts for $50. She gave me this one and one that’s a bit larger. She kept a few for herself and sold the rest of the box for $300!! She has such a great eye for a good deal and opportunity! Isn’t it the sweetest thing?I had it wired and put on a plug and added the crystals. Now it hangs over my little gift wrap station in our basement. It makes wrapping gifts much more fun when you have a little sparkly inspiration!
This little beauty hangs in my closet. I bought it at the same antique store as my newest addition. It has four lights and little clusters of tiny clear and pink crystals. Wouldn’t it look precious in my granddaughters’ nursery? (Future granddaughter I should add.)
This chandelier hangs in our powder room. I bought it about 15 years ago for $40. It was all disassembled and crammed in a box. I didn’t know if it would work or if all of the parts were intact. But it did, and they were! It’s one of my favorites. It will come with us when we move.
This petite chandelier hangs in the master bathroom at Happy Hill. I don’t think it’s very old but I still love it. The Edison bulb doesn’t give off much light, but I like how it gives the fixture a more vintage vibe.
This chandelier hangs above the sink and window box at Happy Hill. It was one of those eBay purchases that ended in a frantic, down to the last second bid. Clearly I won this battle! (Don’t you hate it when someone outbids you at the last second for something silly like a penny? Argh!)
I think this chandelier is on the older side. I love the purple tear drop crystals. It makes me happy every time I see it. And certainly makes doing dishes much more tolerable!
Not only do I enjoy the thrill of the hunt for pretty chandeliers and lighting, but I love decorating our house with unique pieces. It’s even better when I find a treasure and it’s a bargain. In my mind it justifies my little splurges here and there. Well, plus it is my birthday week…
Thank you for stopping by today! Please feel free to tell me what you love to collect! Are you in love with vintage chandeliers too? I hope you have a lovely day. xo Dell
