Welcome and Happy Throw Back Thursday! With the engagement party and the Memorial Day Holiday quickly approaching I’m starting to plan the decor for both. I’m still not sure about using my red, white and blue decor during the engagement party, but nothing says you can’t incorporate both, right?
So, while I’m still deciding the decor for the engagement party in my head, I’m thinking about how I’ve used my patriotic flags, pennants and banners in the past to celebrate America’s holidays. Whether we are at home in Pennsylvania or at Happy Hill, we like to decorate in patriotic colors to show our pride. After all, we DO live in the greatest country on earth! Here are a few simple ways we like to show our patriotism.
First, when ever we get to our lake house, aka Happy Hill, the very first thing we do is hang the flag. To us nothing says welcome back home more than our flag flying proudly on the deck. (It’s funny when we are in PA we refer to NC as home and vice versa. Pieces of our hearts are in both places.)
Another easy way to add instant patriotism is with small American flags. I have them in all different sizes. You can get them almost anywhere this time of year. I like to stick a few in my flower pots and urns. Pink is my favorite color and I think it goes great with red, white and blue. Lacey agrees. <3
The same goes with my island centerpiece. A few flags and a sign and HRH Bunny is in good company.
My sweet vintage bench out front looks festive with a red throw and pillow from Target. (And the ever charming Shasta Daisies!) My husband hates the daisies because they are so invasive, but they are one of my favorite flowers. Every year he sprays them with Round-Up but they are determined little buggers and come back. Every year.
Here is Happy Hill decked out, literally, with red, white and blue goodness. I bought the buntings and pennants a few years ago and they’ve held up really well. The are so quick and easy to put up and take down is another plus. And I love how they look from the lake!
Although they do get in the way of Lacey’s view a little….
More sweet flags in a pot of pink super belles…
And my big urn by the pool looks so pretty with the flowers spilling out. and a few of the bigger flags.
And the Veranda with a few patriotic touches.
And a few more lake pictures since it makes me so happy!
I will share pictures of the engagement party when the time comes. In my mind it will look one way so we will see what it ACTUALLY looks like. There is no telling. I can say there will be lots of family, food and fun. And possibly a chandelier.
I hope you have a wonderful day! Thank you for stopping by! xoxo Dell
