Happy Friday! Have you ever stumbled across a cool and clever gadget at an unbelievable price? I did just that the other day at our local Hardware Store. It’s an Outdoor Wireless Remote Control!
I had to run to Ace Hardware the other day in order to buy new hanging hardware for my new mirror. (Remember, the one that fell off of the wall due to a bad wire?) So, I.bought the new wire, strong enough to hold three times the weight of the mirror and new D-Hooks. Also super-duper strength.
While I was there I decided to take a quick spin down the sale aisle. The Christmas decorations were 75% off! I am not in the market for any Christmas decorations as I only finished putting away the decorations yesterday so I think I have PLENTY. But, they did have these cool outdoor wireless remote controls by Orman, Inc. It was originally $20 and I got it for $5.25.
I thought I might be able to use the remote control plug on the veranda to control my outdoor lights. I hung the string lights at Christmas, but loved how they looked so I left them up. Using an exterior extension plug with an on/off switch I plugged the lights into the strip. It was still a hassle to go outside in the freezing weather to turn them on and off and half the time I forgot. You can see how bulky the extension cord was.
The new wireless plug fits snuggly against the wall and I have a small remote control that I can work from inside the house. Plus it came with batteries!
I am so happy with the new remote control gadget, I went back today and bought a few more. We have similar lights at the lake house so one will go down there for sure! Next year I can plug all of my outdoor lights into these cool plugs. They accept 3-prong grounded plugs and can control lights from up to 50 feet away. (per the directions) If you get one just make sure you follow all of the safety tips and warnings.
I love it when I find something for a great price and it makes my life easier. Win-Win! I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and warm! xoxo Dell
