Welcome to throw back Thursday!! Even though this is not a huge throw back, I still love to look back at the pictures of my son’s outdoor engagement party we threw in May! It was the official kick-off of the wedding season!
In May we threw my son and his fiancé an outdoor engagement party at our lake house, aka Happy Hill. We started by ordering the invitations from Zazzle. We loved the huge oak tree and the lights on the front. It reminded us of our tree in the middle of our deck at Happy Hill. These are the invitations we chose:
We rented a large white 20’x20′ tent, tables and chairs from a local rental company. They set everything up for us which was great! Our patio is made of four large squares so the tent fit perfectly. We decorated the inside of the tent with small white Christmas lights.
We decorated the round tables with white scalloped tablecloths I ordered from Amazon. Then we added an ornate silver leaf mirror in the center of each table with a candle, flowers and pictures of the happy couple.
This is another centerpiece on the kitchen table. I found the wine labels on Amazon and the personalized stickers from Zazzle that says “Eat, Drink and be Married”. The bottles are from my son’s collection Bottlechalk.
This vintage scale looked festive holding a basket of flowers for the party.
I found this sweet little chalkboard at Party City. I gave it to my son after the party so they can continue the countdown at home! (This back door is one of my favorite things at Happy Hill. It was green and brown and I painted it white.)
And my little antique glass mail box with daisies….
The veranda at the lake all festive looking with lanterns and lights…
This is our faux campfire we set up near the water front. We put battery operated fairy lights around the logs to simulate the fire. It looked so pretty at night!
I had two of these pretty crystal chandeliers put on plugs and hung them in the tree on the deck. I am kicking myself because I didn’t think to take a picture of them at night!
This is the lovely couple! I snapped this one right before the party started. It’s my favorite.
This is my beautiful future daughter in law with my adorable nieces who will be the flower girls! Notice the sweet flower girl t-shirts they are wearing? Precious.
This is the view of Happy Hill from the lake. Truly our happy place. (I wanted to keep the tent but my husband said no.)
And a few final pictures of the decorations and festivities…
I love looking at the pictures from the engagement party. It was such a perfect day. Initially the weather forecast called for 60% chance of rain that day, but the forecast changed at the last minute. It did rain every day thereafter for a week! So, we lucked out, big time. Next up we have the bridal shower! I can’t wait to share the detail after the fact. I can tell you it will be at my brother and sister-in-laws beautiful house. Thank you for stopping by! xoxo Dell
