Happy Wednesday, Everyone! This past weekend while my husband and I were strolling around Doylestown, we stumbled on the best shop. It’s called The Tubby Olive. And talk about olive oil options! If you are local, you should check it out!
This quaint little store is located at 6 West State Street near the Historic Doylestown Inn. They have two other locations as well; one in Newtown and one in Philadelphia. The clerk at the store was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Perhaps the owner? I didn’t ask, but she was so nice!
The store is packed with all different types of gourmet extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars on tap. Some have been aged as long as 18 years! And because we cook with olive oil every single day, we thought it would be nice to try some high quality olive oil and vinegar. The store has tiny disposable cups and chopped up bread so you can sample their wide selection. Each of the oils and vinegars are stored in large stainless steel dispensers and are labeled, making it easy to sample and choose your favorites.
We tasted several different samples of both the oils and vinegars. In the end we chose two olive oils and one balsamic vinegar. The Tuscan Herb and the Garlic Olive Oils were our favorites so we bought one of each. It’s $17.50 for the 12.7 ounce bottles. We also bought a 6.76 ounce bottle of the Neapolitan Herb Balsamic for $13.50. We had this on our salad the other night and it was delicious! (But a little goes a long way, so don’t over pour.)
The store has prepackaged gift sets that we decided would make great presents for our sons, who both love to cook. These would also make great hostess gifts or for a gift exchange. I can’t think of a single person who doesn’t love olive oil! The Tubby Olive will also ship gifts so it makes it easy for holiday shopping or even for corporate gifts. They also carry gourmet foods and hand made gifts.
The store also sells these pretty gold pour spouts for $4.95 each. And the gold spout matches the gold foil at the top of the olive oil containers making them so pretty to display in your kitchen! I have a feeling we will be going back soon to the store for more.
I like to keep our olive oil, spices and a few favorite cooking utensils right beside the stove for easy access.
You can contact the store at www.tubbyolive.com to learn more about their delicious oil selection and also for recipes, and online shopping. To quote the store, “For the novice cook to the seasoned chef, there’s something for everyone at The Tubby Olive!”
I hope you have a lovely day and enjoy this cooler weather. Thank you for stopping by! xoxo Dell
