Greetings and welcome to Throw back Thursday! This throw back is about planning a wedding and where to get the perfect invitations. Where can you find elegant wedding and personalized party invitations and favors?
When my son proposed back in December 2016, the wedding seemed so far away. After all, they picked a date in mid-November 2017. But here we are 4 months and 20 days away. Yikes! So far we’ve had the engagement party at Happy Hill. It was a big undertaking but it was a perfect day! It all started with choosing the invitations. The three big companies I found were Zazzle.com, Beau-Coup.com, and Minted.com.
I really like Minted because they will address the envelopes at no extra charge. They look so elegant and professional. I think we will use them for the Rehearsal Dinner and reply cards for this very reason. Below is an envelope I saved from a friend’s son’s wedding by Minted. So pretty!
But for the engagement party, we chose an invitation from Zazzle. It came down to which one I liked the most. I chose this one because the large tree with lights reminds me of the tree in our deck at Happy Hill.
And this is the actual tree at Happy Hill. It’s massive.
Since Zazzle doesn’t personalize the envelopes I wanted to make them look as pretty as possible. (which meant very little of my handwriting!) So, I ordered custom peel and stick return address labels and a pretty round “B” sticker to seal the envelopes. The B stickers were $4.95 per sheet of 20 and 15% off. This comes to roughly 21 cents per sticker. Totally worth it not to lick envelope glue.
I bought some sweet Love stamps at the post office.
On a side note, did you know you can buy postage stamps that have been retired on eBay? I was disappointed to learn they retired the wedding cake stamps last year. The post office told me to search eBay for “wedding cake postage stamps”. They have several sheets available! Who knew?
My son and his fiancé sent out Save the Date cards which they ordered from Minted. They used the option to have the envelopes pre printed and they are so pretty! So, if they choose to use Minted for their wedding invitations, the addresses will already be on file! Win! On the back of the save the date cards they included travel and hotel information and how to visit their wedding website. (And they found a pretty stamp that resembles a boutonniere.)
Personalizing is so easy these days! When I got married we had little match books printed that said “Brad & Dell – A Perfect Match”. And I thought that was something. My sisters are throwing a Bridal Shower for my future daughter in law in August. They are in the planning stages of ordering invitations, planning the refreshments and decorations, etc. I’ll share these details after the fact since it’s a surprise. So for now, mums the word.
Meanwhile we are looking for fun and unique favors for the shower, rehearsal dinner and the reception. Luckily, the sky is the limit! I’ve already found some fun little personalized gift boxes at Beau-Coup. And if you have plenty of time, you can have practically anything personalized. I think these little wine glasses are fun. They make nice keepsakes that folks will actually use!
We ordered a bunch of these little plastic cups for the engagement party. My husband toasted the happy couple using these cups. (Filled with adult beverages.) Also from Zazzle.
You can even have beer coozies personalized! A friend of mine had these made for her son’s wedding reception at their country club.
I’ve ordered some pretty cocktail napkins for the rehearsal dinner and some for the cocktail hour after the wedding. I couldn’t resist! How many times does your first born get married?? Again, I ordered these from Zazzle. They run great specials so I always wait until I get an email with the special discount promo code. (you save a ton this way.) And, it’s so easy! You can see on your computer screen exactly what you are ordering. Below is an example from Zazzle. You pick your style, then you personalize the details and it immediately shows you what your napkins will look like. (I didn’t choose this one, but you get the idea.) Currently these are 15% off.
It’s that simple! These personal touches go a long way in making a wedding unique and memorable. Plus, by purchasing things along the way helps spread out the cost and you are not scrambling at the end and paying expedited shipping! Next up, the bridal shower! I’ll keep you posted and share all of the fun details as they happen. (happy dance!) Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great day! xoxo Dell
