Good Morning! I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! We enjoyed the lake a bit and did a few chores around Happy Hill. And, we managed to score some great wrought iron chairs on Craigslist this weekend. Come see!
Do you shop on Craigslist? We do on occasion. It’s best if I don’t check it too often. After all, they do have really great prices on things you don’t even realize you need until you spot them! But once in a while, it’s Karma. Case in point, this weekend my husband was looking on Craigslist for a dock box. It’s a heavy duty plastic box to go on a deck or dock and can hold cushions, life jackets, boat covers, etc. We’ve been searching for a used one but so far no luck.
My husband DID spot 2 black wrought iron bouncy rocking chairs identical to two we already own. We bought this patio set about 20 years ago from Lowe’s. I love it because each piece is so heavy it can withstand high winds and weather. When we purchased the set, we bought a round table, four stationary chairs and two bouncer chairs. Ever since we’ve regretted not buying two more of the rockers, since everyone seems to gravitate towards these. When my husband spotted them on Craigslist we jumped on it and immediately contacted the seller. This is the original patio set. Still in great shape!
And the two bouncy chairs, as we call them:
We offered a little less than asking price for the set of rockers and the seller accepted. (Still a little more than we thought they were worth, but they matched and we really wanted them!) Luckily she lived only a few miles away in a neighboring town. So we jumped in my husband’s vintage ’66 Ford pickup truck and off we went. (He loves his truck!)
The lady offered to swap the chairs for the truck. LOL. We paid cash and the chairs were ours! This is how the chairs looked when we got them home:
Once the chairs were at Happy Hill, I gave them a good cleaning and painted them with Rust-oluem black paint in a satin finish. (I happened to have two cans in the shop.) Now they look newer than ours! I’ve only painted our set once in 20 years so now it’s probably time for a fresh coat of paint. I’ll put that on my to-do list. Meanwhile we have four bouncy rockers that face the lake. Perfect for conversation and lake watching! You can see the difference with a simple coat of paint! Man, I love spray paint.
Our plan is to eventually renovate the entire deck and cover it and add a large fireplace. And after the last week of perpetual rain, that roof will come in handy! We will line the front of the deck facing the lake with these rockers. I need to find another small table to go in between the new ones. Meanwhile, I have one that works. Of course everything is still wet from the rain. But you get the idea…
And one last look at the tree chandeliers before we take them down. So sad to see them come down. WHY can’t they make waterproof crystal chandeliers? I never got a night time picture of them lit up since it rained every, single day since the engagement party. I kept them covered with enormous black trash bags. But they are still pretty! Sigh…
I hope you have a fabulous day! What’s your favorite Craigslist score? Be sure and let me know! Thanks for stopping by! P.S. Lacey says hi! xoxo Dell
