Yesterday I visited one of my favorite antique stores in Mooresville, NC. I found lots of interesting things. And naturally I didn’t leave empty handed!
The Main Street Antique Gallery has over 100,000 square feet of antiques. It takes quite a while to walk around all of the booths, but it so interesting and it is such a fun way to spend a few hours if you have the time. And, you never know what you’ll find!
I have a few things I always look for when I’m out shopping for antiques. I love crystal chandeliers, old books, silver trays and vases, and vintage holiday decorations. If I find a one of a kind piece for a good deal, I snag it on the spot. I can always change my mind later and put it back. I’ve learned over the years to go with my instincts. Rarely do I have buyers remorse. Plus, if I don’t love it later, I can always resell it or give it to someone. (usually one of my boys!)
These are a few of my goodies I found yesterday.
I found an old dictionary for $6. The copyright says 1970 so it is not that old, but it is in great shape and will look nice in my bookcase or on my desk at the lake. I still enjoy looking up words, old school style.
I picked up a few vintage fishing lures to hang on my lamp at the lake. (You can read more about my fishing lure lamp on my blog). The lures were just a few dollars each and my lamp is almost full!
I also bought an old silver oil lamp with a tall glass vase. I don’t know how old it is but I love the look of it and it was a great price.
I found a cute vintage tag for my husband’s old 1966 Ford pickup truck. It even says Mooresville and Lake Norman area since 1961. Perfect!
And I bought 2 vintage metal industrial light covers for $14. They are threaded at the top so I think it will be pretty simple to add a light kit to them. They would look great hanging over a work surface or in a shop. Hmmmm……
I also picked up this little plastic gadget for $2. It slips over the top of a champagne bottle and holds a champagne flute on each side. It also has a little slot for a bottle opener. It is clearly not old, but I think it would make a great wedding gift! I can see it wrapped up in clear cellophane with a pretty ribbon and tag. For the cost of a nice bottle of champagne, it will make a fun and unique gift!
So, not a bad haul for a lovely afternoon! Now it’s time to head out on the boat with a cooler of appetizers and some cold drinks! I’m sure Lacey is ready for a boat ride! Hope you have a wonderful day!
