Wow! It’s 3 days until Christmas! This little Christmas Countdown app is making me nervous. At least my Christmas cards are in the mail. My decorating has come to a necessary halt. I could do more, but I don’t have time nor honestly the energy!
This year we put up two artificial trees. I found this tree for free this year and decided to set it up in the living room. I’ve never had a tree in here before and I like how it looks when you come in the front door. You can also see it from the front window. We kept the decorations simple with snowflakes and birds. I have a feeling this tree will become a yearly favorite!
The tree in the family room was passed down to us from my in-laws. It is one of the old school trees where each branch must be put on individually. Most of the color coded tags are faded or missing so it’s tricky to set it up. I wised up last year and stacked each row in order in boxes. I labeled each box accordingly. One box is labeled “top of tree”, etc. It really helped during the assembly this year! I also tried my hand at flocking last year. I planned on re-flocking it this year, but simply ran out of time. The amount of flocking I did add last year mostly came off when I put up the tree this year. I hope that flock is not a cancer causing agent…. At any rate, the tree turned out pretty, and free. The tree and a few special ornaments:
Our mantle has given me great pleasure this year due to its increased depth. (My husband kindly made it bigger a few weeks ago.) The wheels in my head are already turning about what to put on it after Christmas. I have so many more options now. I do love it all decorated for Christmas, especially when we have a toasty fire too!
The Nutcracker collection stands guard in the living room and dining rooms. I added some pre-decorated greenery and added some lights.
Even the powder room got a little extra attention this year. I put all of my Christmas magazines on the wall rack and hung my thrift store sign over the top. The new toilet got a little color with a faux greenery spray. And of course some Christmas themed towels. One of my favorite antique store finds is this little guy dressed in velvet. He (she?) holds a staff with crystals. This stays in the bathroom year round since I love it so much. (anything with crystals right?)
I seriously need to go wrap some gifts and get them under the tree! If I get the house cleaned up I’ll share a tour of everything decorated! That’s a BIG if since I’m so behind this year! Meanwhile, I hope you have a wonderful week! The countdown is ON! Thank you as always for stopping by! xoxo Dell
