TGIF Friends! I had good intentions of posting yesterday but with the snow day I got side tracked taking down Christmas decorations and building fires, etc. But clearing out the Christmas clutter reminded me of my favorite Christmas gift ever! My husband bought me a ceiling medallion! Totally in love. (both with hubby and medallion)
Before Christmas I casually mentioned to my husband I found a huge, gorgeous ceiling medallion at one of my favorite boutiques. He asked a few questions about it, but I never imagined he would surprise me and buy it for me at Christmas! For one thing, he is always lamenting how I buy things without having a place for it. (As if) Or the fact we are going to move in the next few months and need to scale back. So, I assumed I would be gifted with more practical things like a Yeti coffee cup and new boots. (which I was, and I appreciated!) But a medallion we won’t put up anytime soon? Probably not.
But, my husband snuck out and bought this! I sort of want to hang it on the wall or wear it around my neck just so I can look at it all of the time. And it would look amazing with my dining room chandelier, but why tempt the potential new buyer with something they CAN NOT have? Here is the medallion in all of its glory. You can see the scale based on the chair rail which is approximately 3 feet high.
The medallion is made of lightweight metal but still very substantial. I love the beautiful details!
Sigh…
I do have a small ceiling medallion in the dining room that I purchased from Lowe’s years ago. It is light weight and I recall it wasn’t that expensive. Technically one is supposed to glue them to the ceiling but since we always have resell in the back of our minds, I just had the electrician tighten it as much as possible when he installed my chandelier. It’s nice enough I suppose, but now I have the new one, this one somehow doesn’t cut it.
I blogged about this dining room chandelier a long while back, but in case you missed it, I found it at a consignment store for a mere $100. I couldn’t believe my good fortune! It had been tossed in a corner and many of the leaves were bent, and most of the crystals were missing or broken. Here is the chandelier after I rescued it and was hanging in my treasure room at Happy Hill. A few days later I transported it to Doylestown. Thankfully the glass spires were all intact and unscathed.
And a few weeks later after it was polished, cleaned and sporting new crystals….
I’ve always thought it needed a more deserving medallion. Like this one, don’t you?
So, next house goals. When we list the house for sale, we will exclude the chandelier from the list of consigned items. (Or is it not consigned?) At any rate, the new owner may not appreciate my taste in crystal chandeliers and be happy for me to take it with me. It could happen.
For now I will have to dream about our future house and hope there is a perfect spot for my lovely gift. I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the snow! Lacey loves it! xoxo Dell

Yes Dell, you definitely need to wear it around your neck!?
A statement piece if there ever was one! xo
