Happy Friday, Everyone! I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Thanks to the rain our yard and flowers look beautiful so a weekend by the pool is what the doctor ordered! However, remember yesterday and my best laid plans? Well, guess what happened?
Quick recap. My son moved out of the house permanently and took most of his bedroom furniture. This left an empty room so instead of buying anything new for this house, I was going to shuffle all of the furniture around. My plan was to move the twin beds from the basement bunkhouse into my son’s room. Then I was going to move the craft room currently in the master bedroom sitting area to the basement and turn the old craft room into a sitting room. All of this was to keep me from buying a new bed and get this house staged and ready to sell next spring. Everything in its place, right?
I told my husband about my great idea this morning thinking he would agree it was brilliant. We wouldn’t have to buy a new bed or anything! We could just spread out the furniture we already own and clean and stage as we go. He quickly poo-pooed my idea. He thought it was a ton of busy work and he said he liked the idea of having a bedroom in the basement and a craft room in our bedroom. WHY did I ask his opinion? The easy answer is I need his help in accomplishing whatever I plan to do. In that case I told him we would have to buy another bed. And his response? “How much can a bed be?” That’s a quote.
Let’s see. I just got a new catalog from Arhaus. Who doesn’t love their stuff? I found a few queen size beds I like. There is this gorgeous tufted headboard for a mere $1,599.00. That is the sale price. Then there is a new mattress, box springs and frame. Roughly another $1500 or more.
Here is another beautiful bed by Arhaus. It’s only $2,499.00. Also on sale.
So, a bed CAN be quite expensive. In reality, what will happen is I will search Craigslist, antique and consignment stores and find something for much less. BJ’s has decent prices on mattresses and box springs. I’ve bought them there before and had no complaints. My husband knows me well and he probably guesses the wheels in my head are already turning and I’ll find something unique and inexpensive quickly. Hmmmm….I found a few inspiration pictures: I could do these with just a simple headboard. (and a chandelier.) Pictures via Pottery Barn & Arhaus.
The NEW plan is to buy a new bed for Nic’s room. I’ll still paint the boy’s bedrooms and basement bunkhouse and move some of the furniture around. In the end it will look fine and I’ll still stage it for resale. Plus, if we have company for the holidays we’ll have an extra bed. Who knows? Maybe this will turn out even better! This is a cute idea for twin beds. It looks only slightly larger than our current bunkhouse.
Well, here we go. I was disappointed about the change of plan at first but I accept the challenge! And now my husband has to help! I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for stopping by. xoxo Dell
