Happy Thursday! We are snowed in today with about 6 inches of snow. And I must say I don’t mind one bit! Since it is Throw back Thursday, I thought I’d share a few fun baby shower favors I made last year. Come see!
For my nephew’s baby shower I made these fun little favors out of actual baby food jars. I discovered if you buy the lighter colored food such as apple sauce, the lids are not stained and clean up nicely. (one of those live and learn tips) The process was really simple. I emptied the jars and scraped off the labels. I ran them through the dishwasher on the extra hot cycle. Any remaining residue I cleaned off using Goof-Off. Then I spray painted the lids white. Easy!
I ordered a bag of plastic babies on Amazon. A pack of 60 1″ babies is about $5.49. You can get all blue or pink babies. If you don’t know the sex of the baby it would be fun to do a mix of pink and blue babies for the shower. I used E-6000 glue to glue the babies on top of each lid.
For the boy shower favors I filled the jars with Hershey’s kisses. The writing on the tags are blue so it looks cute with the blue baby on top. I used the rest of the plastic babies on top of the sheet cake squares.
For the girl baby shower favor jars, I ordered some pink and white M&M’s online. You can personalize the M&M’s with a name if you know it in advance. I chose a mix of white, light pink and dark pink. I have to admit they were really cute. The personalized M&M’s turned out to be quite pricey (about $30 per bag) so I think in the future I’ll use pink & white jelly beans instead. Or around Easter time there are the pastel colored M&M’s and those would work nicely too without the added expense. I added a dainty pink ribbon on the girl’s favors.
I love how these little favors turned out! I bought the smallest and least expensive baby food I could find for this project. If you have a baby or know someone that does, you can get them to save the jars for you. Ok, now I need to focus. Wedding shower first, THEN baby shower. Yay! Hope you have a wonderful day. Stay warm, my friends! xoxo Dell
