TGIF! I’m so happy the weekend is here and the weather is perfectly gorgeous! I took the opportunity this morning to take Lacey on a long walk. We spotted a few treasures on the curb destined for the trash, so we had to swing back by in the car and check them out up close!
It makes me sad when I see people throw out what looks to be perfectly good furniture. I spotted a nice upholstered chair and ottoman by the curb yesterday. From the look of it, it appeared to be in fairly good condition. But who knows the real story? Maybe the cat had a furniture mishap, or it suffered water damage? Maybe it is broken? At any rate, I passed this one by for those very reasons. Plus, my husband would have a fit if I dragged home something that large! However, I did spy this mirror! (It’s still dirty in this picture.)
I play a little game with myself sometimes when I’m not 100% sold on something. I tell myself if it is there when I come back it was meant to be. This applies to trash picks or antique stores. So, Lacey and I passed by the mirror at the beginning of our walk and I decided if it was still there when we circled back, I’d take a closer look. Well, it was there and it was in perfect condition! The frame was wood, not plastic and the mirror was in great shape as well. And it’s beveled. Score! So, it came home with us. I’m not sure what I’ll do with it yet, but at least I rescued it from certain doom. Here it is all cleaned up:
My other score today was an old vintage typewriter on eBay. It was one of those “for pick up only” deals. And it was so cheap, I HAD to have it! And being such a beautiful day, it was a perfect outing for Lacey and me. This antique typewriter is so cute. My plan was to spray paint it gold like I’d seen on a blog that I follow (Nesting with Grace). But once I saw it in person I knew I didn’t have the heart to paint it. Plus, it already has a touch of gold in the lettering. Black and gold are my favorite colors, (other than pink) so it is settled. This little beauty will stay in its original state. It is missing a few of the letters and it does not work, but it looks darling for now on my son’s desk. (and no, you can’t have it. Yet.)
I’m working on a few wedding things, too. I hope to have some of them finished next week. Time is ticking away quickly! 8 months and counting! So, we’d better get things rolling. I am trying to help round up table centerpieces for the reception. I have quite a few of my own and some in my stash. I’ll stage them and take pictures and send them to the kids for their approval. It’s getting exciting around here! Well, enjoy this beautiful weather! Thanks for stopping by! xoxo Dell
